Gopika tragically lost her life in a high-speed road accident near the Nedumbassery airport road, devastating her family who were eagerly awaiting her visit for the Pooja holidays. The young woman had been working part-time in Ernakulam alongside her studies to support her family, displaying immense responsibility as the eldest child. Her father Pradeep works as an auto-rickshaw driver, while her mother Sajitha has a small job at a local shop. Just hours before the fatal mishap, Gopika had happily spoken to her family over the phone about going out to eat with her friends near the airport. The tragic news of her accident reached her home in Kalladikkode, Palakkad, in the early hours of Sunday, plunging her loved ones into deep grief. Her mortal remains were brought home by Sunday evening and subsequently cremated at the Ivarmatham in Thiruvilwamala. Numerous people, including Minister K.A. Thulasi, visited the grieving family to pay their final respects to the departed soul.
