Savitri Sreedharan, the beloved actress who won hearts by portraying the character Jameela in the film ‘Sudani from Nigeria’, has passed away. Her demise was due to age-related ailments. She had been bedridden for a long time at her home in Mankavu, Kozhikode. Her performance in ‘Sudani from Nigeria’ earned her the State Award for Best Character Actress and a Special Jury Mention at the National Film Awards. Savitri began her artistic journey through theatre and was active in the professional theatre scene for five decades, also receiving the State Government Award for Best Theatre Actress. Her husband, Sreedharan, had passed away earlier, and she remained active in acting until she faced health challenges.
