മുംബൈയില് ഭർതൃവീട്ടിലെ പീഡനത്തിൽ മനംനൊന്ത് ജീവനൊടുക്കിയ ദേശീയ ഗുസ്തിതാരം അശ്വിനി മനോഹർ പോളിന്റെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ കുട്ടിയും മരിച്ചു. കോട്ടയുടെ മുകളിൽ നിന്നു ചാടിയ അശ്വിനി, മകൻ അജിങ്ക്യ, ഇരട്ടകളിൽ ഒരാളായ ക്രാന്തി എന്നിവർ അപകടസ്ഥലത്തു തന്നെ മരിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഗുരുതര പരുക്കേറ്റ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ ചികിത്സയിലിരിക്കെയാണ് ഇരട്ടകളിൽ ഒരാളായ വീര മരിച്ചത്.
അശ്വിനിയുടെ ഭർത്താവ് മനോഹർ പോൾ, മനോഹറിന്റെ പിതാവ് അങ്കുഷ് പോൾ എന്നിവരെ സ്ത്രീധനപീഡനം, ആത്മഹത്യാപ്രേരണ എന്നീ കുറ്റങ്ങൾക്ക് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. ഭർതൃമാതാവ് ഒളിവിലാണ്.

കൂടുതൽ സ്ത്രീധനം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടും ഇരട്ടപെൺമക്കൾക്കു ജന്മം നൽകിയതിന്റെ പേരിലുമാണ് അശ്വിനി നിരന്തര പീഡനം നേരിട്ടത്. 2020ലായിരുന്നു വിവാഹം. പിറ്റേ വർഷം മകനും 2024ൽ ഇരട്ടക്കുട്ടികളും ജനിച്ചു. പിന്നാലെയാണു ഭർതൃവീട്ടുകാരുടെ ഉപദ്രവം കൂടിയത്. പീഡനം സഹിക്കാനാകാതെ അശ്വിനി സർക്കാർ ജോലി രാജിവച്ചതും പ്രതിസന്ധി കൂട്ടി.
കഴിഞ്ഞ വ്യാഴാഴ്ച ധാരാശിവ് (ഉസ്മാനാബാദ്) ജില്ലയിലെ നൽദുർദ് കോട്ടയ്ക്കു മുകളിൽ മക്കളുമായി എത്തിയ അശ്വിനി 100 അടി താഴ്ചയിലേക്കു ചാടുകയായിരുന്നു. അശ്വിനി ദേശീയതലത്തിൽ 5 സ്വർണമെഡലും 6 വെള്ളിയും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Ashwini a national wrestler committed suicide along with her three children due to dowry harassment in Mumbai. Ashwini, her son Ajinkya, and one of her twins, Kranti, died at the scene after she jumped from a fort. Her other twin, Veera, died during treatment in the hospital. Her husband, Manohar Poli, and his father, Ankush Poli, have been arrested for dowry harassment and abetting suicide. The mother-in-law is absconding. Ashwini faced constant harassment for demanding more dowry and for giving birth to twin daughters. She had resigned from her government job due to the unbearable abuse. Ashwini, who won 5 gold and 6 silver medals at the national level, had jumped from the Naldurg fort with her children.
