സംവിധായകൻ ആർ.ശരത്തിന് വിടനൽകി സിനിമാ ലോകവും പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവരും. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അന്ത്യം. 63 വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
സായാഹ്നം, ശീലാബതി, ബുദ്ധൻ ചിരിക്കുന്നു, പറുദീസ, സ്ഥിതി തുടങ്ങിയവയാണ് ആർ.ശരത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന സിനിമകൾ. ഇതിൽ സായാഹ്നം ഏഴ് സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്രപുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ നേടി.പിന്നണി ഗായകൻ ഉണ്ണി മേനോനായിരുന്നു നായകൻ. ഉണ്ണി മേനോൻതന്നെയായിരുന്നു ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ സംഗീതസംവിധായകനും. നവാഗത സംവിധായകനുള്ള ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി ദേശീയ പുരസ്കാരവും സായഹ്നം സ്വന്തമാക്കി. നിരവധി പ്രശസ്തമായ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളകളിലേക്കും ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

അന്താരാഷ്ട്രതലത്തിൽ പ്രശംസ നേടിയ ‘ദി പെയിന്റഡ് എപിക്സ്’ എന്ന ഡോക്യുമെന്ററി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ കിലുനൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് രാജാ രവിവർമ്മയുടെ ചില അപൂർവ മ്യൂറൽ പെയിന്റിങ്സ് ശരത് കണ്ടെത്തി.
ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദധാരിയായ ആർ. ശരത് ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ ആൻഡ് പബ്ലിക് റിലേഷൻസ് വകുപ്പിൽ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി ഡയറക്ടറായിരുന്നു. സാംസ്കാരിക വകുപ്പിന് കീഴിൽ എം.പി.സി.സി ഡയറക്ടറായും ഭാരത് ഭവൻ സെക്രട്ടറിയായും സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Renowned Malayalam Director R. Sharath Passes Away:
Director R. Sharath, known for films like Sayahnam and Shilabathi, has passed away at the age of 63. His film Sayahnam achieved significant recognition, winning seven state film awards and the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Director. The film also garnered invitations to numerous international film festivals. Beyond his directorial work, Sharath, who held a postgraduate degree in English Literature, also served in the Information and Public Relations Department and as Director of MPCC and Secretary of Bharat Bhavan. He is remembered for discovering rare mural paintings of Raja Ravi Varma while filming his internationally acclaimed documentary 'The Painted Epics'.
